Hellenism 1821-1900: Origins and Leaps | a presentation by Maria Efthymiou, Professor Emerita of History | Zoom event
A ZOOM presentation by Professor Maria Efthymiou, titled “Hellenism 1821–1900: Origins and Leaps” where she will discuss how, after nine years of battle, the Greek nation achieved independence and statehood, breakthroughs that would shape its path through both the 19th and 20th centuries.
Professor Efthymiou was born in Larissa, Thessaly. She studied History at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and in Sorbonne in Paris. She has taught Early Modern Greek and World History at the NKUA and has published 6 books and more than 85 articles. She has been honored with the “Exceptional Academic Teaching Award in honor of Vassilis Xanthopoulos and Stefanos Pnevmatikos.”
The presentation is organized by the The Basil P. Caloyeras Center for Modern Greek Studies and co-hosted with the Hellenic Studies Program at California State University, Sacramento under the auspices of the Consulate General of Greece in Los Angeles.
