Strengthening Ties with Greece: AHC Meets with Secretary General for Greeks Abroad in Athens, Greece

In late July 2025, Dimitra Kasdagli, Executive Director of the American Hellenic Council (AHC), met with Ms. Maira Myrogianni, Secretary General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with her advisor, Ms. Eftyhia Xydia.

The meeting was part of a broader trip to Greece aimed at fostering closer relations between the AHC, the Greek diaspora, and the Government of Greece.

During the visit, Dimitra Kasdagli had the opportunity to present the mission, history, and accomplishments of the AHC, with a particular emphasis on its ongoing political advocacy for Greek and Cypriot national issues on the international stage. The conversation also focused on engaging the younger generations of the diaspora—educating them in Greek culture, language, political and civic participation.

The meeting proved to be both productive and inspiring, marking the beginning of an open and active channel of communication between the Greek-American community in California and the Greek government, facilitated through the American Hellenic Council.
