
In August 29, 2025, in a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, awarded the Medal of “Exceptional Service” to Mr. Andreas Kyprianides, in recognition of his decades-long and multifaceted contributions to Cyprus, the Cypriot diaspora, and Hellenism at large.
Mr. Kyprianides has served as the Honorary Consul General of Cyprus in Los Angeles for the past 42 years, playing a pivotal role in strengthening ties between Cyprus and the diaspora community in the United States. Beyond his diplomatic duties, he has been an active and influential figure in cultural, national, and community affairs for more than half a century.
The award ceremony was held as part of the 2025 World Conference of Overseas Cypriots, which took place in Nicosia from August 26 to 29. The conference brought together Cypriots from across the globe to engage in dialogue, strengthen networks, and celebrate their shared heritage.
President Christodoulides praised Mr. Kyprianides for his unwavering dedication and service, emphasizing the importance of diaspora leaders in promoting Cyprus’s interests abroad and preserving national identity across generations.
Mr. Kyprianides expressed deep gratitude for the honor, noting that his lifelong commitment to Cyprus and the wider Hellenic community has been a source of pride and purpose.
This recognition highlights the vital role of the Cypriot diaspora and reaffirms the government’s commitment to acknowledging those who contribute significantly to the nation’s global presence.
