Continuing in the spirit of sustained engagement and honoring the legacy of Aris Anagnos, representatives of the American Hellenic Council (AHC) attended a fundraising event on February 15, 2026, in Beverly Hills in support of Congressman Brad Sherman.

The event was well attended, bringing together approximately 60 contributors and community leaders. Members of the Hellenic-American community demonstrated strong support.
This marked the fourth consecutive year of engagement with Congressman Sherman, reflecting a consistent and growing relationship. Arriving early allowed for meaningful one-on-one discussions, during which AHC representatives provided a comprehensive update on key Hellenic and Cypriot issues. Topics included developments in Cyprus, the Eastern Mediterranean, Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) matters, the ongoing Turkish casus belli, regional cooperation frameworks, and emerging initiatives.
Particular emphasis was placed on recent security concerns in the region, including developments in Northern Cyprus, as well as the broader strategic implications for regional stability.
Congressman Sherman, long recognized as a strong supporter of Hellenic and Cypriot issues, demonstrated once again his deep familiarity with the region’s history and geopolitical dynamics. His longstanding engagement dates back to the late 1990s, when he introduced a congressional resolution addressing the Catastrophe of Smyrna, reflecting an early commitment to issues of historical significance to the Hellenic world.
Discussions also revisited key geopolitical considerations, including the strategic importance of Kastellorizo in relation to Greece’s EEZ, further reinforcing the importance of continued education and dialogue with policymakers on complex regional matters.
Congressman Sherman reiterated his consistent positions regarding regional security, including the importance of maintaining a strong strategic balance in the Eastern Mediterranean.
AHC remains committed to expanding its outreach efforts and strengthening its role in advancing Hellenic and Cypriot priorities through ongoing, strategic dialogue with U.S. policymakers.
