The AHC congratulates Alexi Giannoulias on winning the Democratic Primary Election for his Senate bid in Illinois and expresses its support for the general election

On Tuesday, February 2, 2010, Alexi Giannoulias won the Democratic Primary Election for the 2010 Illinois Senate seat that was originally vacated by President Obama.
Mr. Giannoulias, is son of Greek immigrants and has expressed support for the issues of concern to the Greek-American community.
"To elect Alexi would be a big plus for the Greek-American community. It will give a more prominent voice to our causes on Capitol Hill. We fully support Alexi's bid for the general election in Illinois becuase he has expressed support for issues of concern when it comes to foreign policy." Alexander Mizan, Executive Director of the American Hellenic Council said.
The American Hellenic Council expresses its support for Alexi and hopes that the winning momentum can be maintained going into the November general election, where he will be facing Republican nominee Mark Kirk.
