Alexander MizanJune 16, 2009 – Los Angeles, CA - The American Hellenic Council of California, an effective and respected political lobbying group whose purpose is to lobby the U.S. Congress for the protection and promotion of Greek-American interests has hired Alexander Mizan as its new Executive Director.

Alexander was born and raised in Athens, Greece and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University in Finance and International Relations. Previous to being hired as the Executive Director of the AHC, he had served as Board Member and Treasurer of the Council and had helped with fundraising and promotion efforts. He has work experience in a variety of industries with a focus on Finance.

Despite the limited resources of the Council, several members thought that hiring Alexander was the right choice towards an effort to raise the activities and profile of the Council. Therefore, the Council is looking towards a new era of bigger member participation & support as well as a more active role in the Greek-American community.

During its existence, the American Hellenic Council has supported numerous Hellenic issues, has made political donations and raised significant contributions for members of Congress who support Hellenic issues. It is primarily supported by donations from its members. Contributions can either be made directly to the organization or its affiliated Charitable Trust that is 501(c)3 certified.
