What is even more shocking is this fact: Paragraph 5 of UN Resolution 550 of 1984 explicitly calls for handing over of the Varosha neighborhood of Famagusta to United Nations Control. Said UN resolution was voted for 13-1 by the UN Security Council. (1 vote against was that of Pakistan, the United States abstained). However, that provision has yet to be implemented. And while we are seeing Blue Helmets everywhere from oil-rich Nigeria to the Congo, the world powers to be have yet to implement this simple provision...
