Member of the Board of Directors Thalia Polychronis has been a Grant Specialist in the Homeland Security and Public Safety department of the Office of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa since 2009. She is responsible for the administration of several federal public safety grants for the City of Los Angeles, as well as more than 70 other cities throughout Los Angeles County. Prior to her position with the City of Los Angeles, she worked in the Research and Evaluation Department of Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP). Her work within the agency included strategic research assessing the needs of communities served by the organization in areas related to early childcare education, capacity, and workforce issues to guide decision-making and planning, as well as contributing to internal program evaluation and monitoring activities. Other policy experience includes work with several non-profit organizations and government agencies in the area of environmental impact analysis, healthcare, and transportation policy issues. She holds a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Southern California’s School of Policy, Planning, and Development, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Environmental Policy from Tulane University.
