Eleni Hioureas

Member of the Board of Directors, VP of Administration

Eleni Hioureas is an English literature and composition professor at Santa Monica College.  She is the faculty leader of the Basic Skills English program there, specializing in teaching composition to educationally underrepresented students, and is actively involved in many committees, including one that aims to promote global competency in education.  She also developed a study abroad program to Greece.

Hioureas has a Master’s degree in Modern Literature from the University of York in England and a Bachelor’s degree in American Literature from UCLA with minors in Political Science and Classics. 

Her involvement with the Greek-American community extends beyond her position as Vice President of Administration for the American Hellenic Council; she is the co-chair of the Communications Committee for SAE USA Youth (World Council of Hellenes Abroad) and has taught Greek folk dancing at UCLA.
